School Choice in Arkansas
Parents in Arkansas are allowed to request transfers to nonresident school districts so long as the district is under 90% capacity using the Application for School Choice Transfer Form under the Public School Choice Act of 2015.
This is great news for homebuyers who can now expand their home search beyond the borders of their preferred school district which may increase their buying power and options like having more acreage. However, school bus transportation is not provided by the school district when attending a nonresident district so plan to drive your children to school!
Also note, that transfers are possible after the May 1st deadline. For more information and to confirm availability, contact the administrators office for the district you desire.
